The V730 is a six-channel logic-level optical-to-electrical converter, packaged as a single-width, 6U VME module. When used with compatible Highland optical transmitter modules, the V730 provides fast, low-jitter, EMI-proof distribution of pulses, triggers, and precision timing signals.
The V730 accepts 850 nanometer, 1310 nanometer, or 1550 nanometer optical input through FC or ST connectors using either single- or multi-mode fiber. Nominal input power is 1 milliwatt with a detection threshold of 250 microwatts.
The module's electrical outputs produce TTL and NIM logic levels, with selectable polarity. The user can independently configure each channel's logic level and polarity. Output drive is 0 to 5 volts into a 50 ohm load.
Safety features include a logic-level GATE input to enable/disable the output drivers and a front-panel safety toggle switch that removes power from the output drivers.
The module receives power from the VME backplane; it does not connect to the VME data bus, and passes all grant signals. The V730 also accepts power from the optional J192 power supply for standalone use.
